Lane Tech Students, Teachers to Rock in Upcoming Palooza

Proceeds from upcoming rock shows at Roscoe Village's Lane Tech College Prep High School will benefit a unique engineering class being offered next academic year.

Lane Tech students—and their teachers—are ready to rock.

The school's music department has organized "Lane-a-Palooza" to promote area Chicago Public Schools rock bands and raise money to buy equipment for the school's new sound engineering class, which is said to be the only one of its kind in Illinois.

Scheduled for Friday, tickets are going fast, according to the event's Facebook page.

An after-school "Palooza Pre-Party" will include the Battle of the Bands portion of the program. It will feature six Lane Tech bands, each accompanied by a guest teacher performer.

"This collaboration between students and teachers will give students a chance to see the teachers' talents outside of the classroom," the event's website says. "In addition to all the fame and glory, the winner of the afternoon show will perform during the main event."

Additional bands have been submitting videos on the Lane-a-Palooza Facebook page. For more information about the event, visit the Facebook page or check the school's site.
