The amount of overtime that Chicago workers are earning is now available in a searchable database released by the city.
The data shows that in 2012, 2,976 employees earned more than $10,000 each in overtime. The top overtime earners are from the Office of Emergency Management and Communications. Lisa Jamison, a police communications operator, was No. 1 on that list, raking in more than $91,000 in overtime wages, according to the data.
Scheduling employees for overtime is sometimes used as a cost-saving measure in that the city avoids having to hire more full-time staff members, officials have said.
