Shots Fired, Car Flipped in Roscoe Village Police Chase
A car chase ends in Roscoe Village with one man in critical condition.
Two suspects are in custody after a citywide chase ended in Roscoe Village at 9:30 a.m. with gunshots fired and a car crash, police said.
One suspect is still at large, police said.
The chase started at 8:30 a.m. in the Austin community, when police in the 25th District pulled over the vehicle during a routine traffic stop. Illinois State Troopers were also involved in the pursuit, said a representative from Chicago Police News Affairs.
Shots were fired, they said, but authorities were not certain whether they were directed at any officers or pedestrians.
Police in the 19th District were called to the 1700 block of West School Street in Roscoe Village about one hour later, when the suspects' vehicle reportedly slammed into a pickup truck and flipped over.
One suspect was critically injured in the crash—which was close to School Street's intersection with North Paulina—and taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital in Lake View, police said.
Three suspects were reported to be in the vehicle; one male, one female, as well as another person police did not offer additional details about. The man and woman were in custody around 11 a.m. on Thursday, police said. The vehicle reportedly belongs to the female suspect, who police say lives in the 10th Police District, near Lawndale.
Police said the suspect was armed and dangerous. He is described as a Hispanic male wearing blue jeans and a black jacket and shirt, according to a witness report on Everyblock.
