Man Electrocuted While Writing Graffiti On Montrose, Police Say

The 19-year-old man died early Thursday morning at Advocate Illinois Masonic.

A 19-year-old man died early Thursday morning after being electrocuted between a transformer and chain link fence, police said. 

The man had been tagging the transformer near where he was found on the 1800 block of W. Montrose Ave., officers with the Chicago Police Department of News Affairs said. He was found about 2:47 a.m. and died about an hour later at Advocate Illinois Masonic. 

Firefighters brought the man down from the site with a ladder and discovered the defaced transformer. 

Police have not yet released the identity of the man.
