Vienna Beef to Induct Original Luke's on Harlem into Hot Dog Hall of Fame

The Vienna Beef Hot Dog Hall of Fame was created to highlight restaurants that have been in business for more than 25 years and have significant ties to the communities they exist in.

The Original Luke’s on Harlem on Chicago's northwest side, a local favorite known for its famous hot dogs, Italian beef, pizza, burgers and more will be inducted into the Vienna Beef Hot Dog Hall of Fame on June 3, 2014.

The Original Luke’s on Harlem was established inn 1973, and has been owned and operated by Steven Disilvestro and his family since the early 1990’s. Over that time, the restaurant has sponsored Hiawatha baseball teams; Disilvestro regularly donates funds to several local schools and non-profits, and supports the Franklin Park Ice Arena.

“The Vienna Beef Hot Dog Hall of Fame rewards those folks who have been instrumental in perpetuating Vienna Beef and their successful businesses,” said Bob Schwartz, senior vice president of Vienna Beef. “The Original Luke’s on Harlem has been deeply involved with, and a vital part of its surrounding community for over 40 years.”

The fast-food restaurant was featured on the television show, Chicago’s Best, hosted by Brittany Payton and former Chicago Bears player Steve McMichael. It was celebrated for its quality fare and traditional ‘beef stand’ status.

The public is invited to attend the Vienna Beef Hot Dog Hall of Fame induction ceremony at The Original Luke’s on Harlem, 3130 N. Harlem Ave., Chicago, on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at 11 a.m. To celebrate the occasion, Disilvestro will be serving free Vienna Beef hot dogs from 10:30 a.m. until noon to all who come through his doors. (June 3, 2014 from 10:30 a.m. until noon only)
